Question: Are vegetarian diets healthier than the typical American Diet?


A qualified yes. Epidemiologic and case control studies in vegetarian groups show lower all-cause morbidity and mortality. In prospective studies, carefully selected vegetarian diets usually result in several positive health outcomes when compared to traditional eating habits. the benefits include decreased risk of coronary artery disease and hypertension, lower body mass index, fewer deaths from type II diabetes, decreased morbidity from renal disease, and decreased risk of several types of cancers. Vegetarian diets, or simply high fruit and vegetable intake, are associated with lower risk for lung, oral, pharyngeal, laryngeal, esophageal, colorectal, breast, and endometrial cancers.

    Hi I loved your post. I think that it is important when discussing diabetes to at least bring up natural treatments that have been shown to be effective in managing high blood sugar. Many natural herbs can be including in a diabetics regimen that may help preserve a wholesome sugar level.
